Nearly four acres of the land are cultivated\, and the remainder is preserved in three distinct ecosystems: coastal prairie\, post-oak savannah\, and pine barrens. \nBlackwood Educational Land Institute is a teaching farm on a quest to model the indispensable role of sustainable food systems in all our lives. Together we can co-create better ways to grow and source food\, eat and live—restoring natural systems\, public health and animal welfare\, and celebrating all it means to be human! Daily\, we recommit to life-long-learning\, diversity and gathering with our family\, friends and community. \nBlackwood grows healthy food to inspire the next generation and to connect us all. They are dedicated to harvesting and producing their food in a sustainable and environmentally-conscious manner\, often employing key concepts of the day. Whether it’s biomechanics or permaculture\, they’re integrating resiliency into their farming methods. The food grown here is at least 40% higher nutritional value than conventional food bought at a grocery store and its because of their nurtured soil. \nYou will be staying in the beautiful Baleyfield House. Retreatants will sleep on bunk beds in dorms. Built in 1990\, the Baleyfield House is a straw bale construction and one of the first of its kind in Central Texas. The walls are two feet thick\, full of straw\, and painted with a clay exterior. The house needs one fourth less energy to power the central heat and air conditioning because of its efficiency. The ceiling insulation is made of shredded newspaper soaked in chrysanthemum flowers to act as a fire retardant insulation. Plenty of showers and bathrooms. \nTake a look at Blackwood’s photos or visit their website for more information. \n\n  \nWhat you get: \n*Teacher Training Manual (e-book & hard copy)\n*Daily Yoga Classes\n*Discussion and Q&A Sessions\n*Daily Breathwork and Meditation Exercises\n*Hands-On Assists Workshops for Teachers\n*Certificate of Completion for Teachers (12 hours of training)\n*All meals prepared by on-site chef\n*Access to free laundry facility\n*Free wifi\n*Beautiful and clean accommodations (linens and towels included) \nWhat is in the Manual: \n*Over 120 prenatal and postnatal full color asana pictures with detailed instructions\n*Articles about prenatal and postnatal practices through yoga\, breath\, meditation\n*Poses and techniques for relieving pain and cultivating strength and openness\n*Up-to-date info on anatomy and physiology of pregnancy\, birth\, and postpartum\n*Example 60-minute sequences for private and group prenatal or postnatal classes\n*Example 60-minute sequences for integrating prenatal and postnatal modifications into regular group classes\n*Example 60-minute sequences from relaxing to moderate to athletic prenatal or postnatal classes\n*Each participant will receive 2 versions of the Manual – 1 full color e-book and 1 black-and-white hard copy. \nSample Schedule (to be confirmed): \nFRIDAY\n3:00-4:00pm Check-in\n4:00-5:00pm Opening Ceremony\n5:00-6:45pm Prenatal Yoga Class\n6:45-7:00pm Breathwork/Meditation\n7:00-8:00pm Dinner \nSATURDAY\n7:30-8:30am Breakfast\n9:00-10:30am Postnatal Yoga Class\n10:30-11:00am Breathwork/Meditation\n11:30am-12:30pm Lunch\n2:00-3:00pm Lecture and Q&A\n3:00-5:00pm Hands-On Assists Workshop for Teachers\n5:00-5:30pm Yoga Nidra Meditation\n6:00-7:00pm Dinner \nSUNDAY\n7:30-8:30am Breakfast\n9:00-10:30am Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Class\n10:30-11:00am Breathwork/Meditation\n11:00am-12:00pm Hands-On Assists Workshop for Teachers\n12:00-12:20pm Q&A\n12:20-12:30pm Closing Ceremony\n12:30-1:30pm Lunch\n2:00pm Checkout \nFAQs \n\n  \nCost: \nTuition includes $200 non-refundable deposit. \nFirst 5 Registrants by November 10th: $399 (EARLY BIRD SOLD OUT)\nAfter November 10th: $499\nNon-Residential (includes entire training curriculum and Saturday lunch / excludes accommodations): $335 \nCancellation Policy: \n*15-30 days prior to retreat: 50% of monies less paypal fees and $200 non-refundable deposit.\n*14 days prior: No refund.
